Latest News!

Dear Moviegoers,

School holidays are here once again, and we have some fabulous family films over the next few weeks, including HANNAH MONTANA from June 25th, and ICE AGE 3 from June 29th.

Also, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2. and LAND OF THE LOST (from July 2) are screening, so lots of choices over the holidays!

Commencing next week, Michael Caine stars in IS ANYBODY THERE?
Michael Caine gives one of the finest performances of his career as a retired magician who reluctantly enters a family-run retirement home. Set in a seaside English town in the late 80s, the film charts the unlikely friendship that develops between Caine's proud, acerbic old performer and the afterlife-obsessed young son of the home's overwhelmed owners.
IS ANYBODY THERE? tells a charming story about growing up and growing old, and the unpredictable adventures that happen along the way. Created by the producers of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, Michael Caine shines in a role that seems made for him.
With fantastic character actors working alongside central performers, IS ANYBODY THERE? is exceptionally poignant cinema, yet with a mischievous, life-affirming humour never far from the surface.

THE PROPOSAL starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds is now showing and is proving to be very popular and enjoyable, so if you want some laughs, come along soon!
When high-powered book editor Margaret (Sandra Bullock) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), who she's tormented for years.
He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own.
The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family (Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson, Betty White) and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another.
With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the precarious consequences.

TULPAN returns for selected sessions from this week, by popular demand, as does MARY & MAX and DEFIANCE so if you've missed them previously, be sure to see them this week!

Also finishing this week THE READER, EASY VIRTUE, STAR TREK, STATE OF PLAY, ANGELS AND DEMONS and THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS.

Looking ahead into July, we have the Michael Caine comedy/drama IS ANYBODY THERE from July 2nd, the much anticipated HARRY POTTER 6 starting July 15th, and Nia Vardolas (from My Big Fat Greek Wedding) in MY LIFE IN RUINS from July 16th.

Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin star in MY SISTER'S KEEPER from July 30th. Something for everyone throughout June and July!

Still waiting on a start date for SAMSON AND DELILAH, anticipating August at this stage.

As we always encourage you to do so, Bookings are strongly recommended for all films.
Other than to avoid disappointment with availability or seating allocation, it also helps us decide (sometimes at the last minute!) which auditoriums to place the films in day to day, should one film be more popular than another.
Also, should there be last minute filmchanges or cancellations, we can tell you so, on the phone.

If we know to expect you, it can make the world of difference on the day!!

Just a note, for those moviegoers who enjoy our selection of art/foreign/subtitled films, please be sure to catch the film in the first week or two, as most titles are unlikely to sustain longer seasons.

We hope that you enjoy the films you choose to see with us here at Waverley Cinema.
Many of you are aware that there are 10 double passes given away weekly from our website. Before entering each week, please help us make our future programming decisions by taking part in various surveys and polls that we will place on the page.
